Is Kratom For Opioid Withdrawl Works Or Not

Kratom for opioids is marketed to help people who are experiencing withdrawal from opiate drugs. Still, evidence reveals that it may cause more health issues than it helps. This article will determine whether Kratom for opioid withdrawal works or not.

Long-term use of opioid pain relievers such as oxycodone (OxyContin, Roxicodone) causes the body to acquire used to the medicines, and dependency may develop. If you become reliant on these drugs, you may have unpleasant bodily signs and symptoms such as sweating, shaking, and cravings when you stop taking them.

Many individuals are looking for ways to make withdrawal less uncomfortable since it may be distressing. Some people find that getting more sleep or doing distracting things, like watching television, might assist them through withdrawal. Several other people use drugs or substances to alleviate their symptoms.

Dietary Supplement

Kratom is offered as a dietary supplement in the United States, and it is not legally regulated. Still, government authorities are taking steps to prevent misleading claims about the plant’s medicinal properties.

In Asia, people have taken kratom in modest doses to alleviate weariness and treat opium addiction for thousands of years. They have been taking kratom for opioid addiction to save them from it. Aside from relieving withdrawal symptoms and increasing energy, kratom alleviates pain and reduces anxiety and depression in various regions. People use kratom to help withdrawal symptoms because it produces feelings of euphoria and can be obtained more quickly than the medications prescribed for withdrawal.

According to the data, kratom usage may exacerbate problems and worsen rather than alleviate addiction and withdrawal. The treatment for kratom overdose is quite similar to that for opioid overdose. Many of the same difficulties arise throughout the treatment.

Different Cases Of Kratom For Opioid

It all began when his doctor prescribed pills for knee pain.

On the other hand, he refused to participate in an in-house treatment program and attempted to detox himself instead.

Nothing worked for him until he tried kratom two years ago, and it was a complete success!

He is now taking the necessary two to four capsules every day, as prescribed by his doctor. He has not experienced any adverse effects but confesses that he still needs some strength of character. They claim that he has not relapsed since then.

Experts in addiction and medical professionals believe that receiving help is considerably more effective than going alone for opiate detoxification. Only 21.5 percent of those suffering from opioid use disorders are receiving treatment, according to a 2015 research. Around 91 Americans lose their lives every day due to opioid addiction-related causes. A recent poll revealed that approximately 70% of those who used Kratom for opioid did so to cut back on or completely stop using opiates or heroin.

However, the herb’s effects on humans have received little investigation, and some specialists believe it may be addicting.

For things to operate, you must desire them to do so. Without understanding this, nothing works.

To overcome his opioid addiction, Eric Mayhew turned to kratom.

The University of Florida’s College of Pharmacy in Gainesville is home to Christopher R. McCurdy, Ph.D., researching Kratom for opioid. He feels the raw drug has enormous potential for treating opiate withdrawal. Still, he has severe reservations about its purchase and distribution.

Kratom for Self-Assistance

The leaves can be eaten raw, but they are most commonly crushed or powdered and drunk as tea or processed into capsules or liquids for use.

According to DEA spokesperson Katherine Pfaff, the agency believes it is harmful and potentially hazardous.

Because of concerns about Kratom for opioid toxicity and potential health consequences, the FDA has warned consumers not to consume any items marketed as containing kratom.

Are Kratom Leaves Addicting in the Same Way as Opiates?

That it helps people reduce their cravings for opioids and helps them with their mood, says the researcher. They are in a terrific mood. Report that they are more productive and doing activities they enjoy again, allowing them to return to a more typical lifestyle.”

McCurdy’s research on mice demonstrates that Kratom for opioids has a strong potential to treat opiate withdrawal while causing few adverse effects.

According to him, clinical trials and controlled research on Kratom for opioids would be required to achieve this. He believes it will happen within the next five to ten years, if not sooner. For the time being, he advises purchasers to exercise caution.

There is a lot of uncertainty regarding self-treatment, and I believe that is one of the most frightening aspects.” Dr. Edward W. Boyer of Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston is an expert.

Boyer agrees but cautions against jumping to conclusions because the situation is not fully understood.  “We have no way of knowing whether that is true,” Boyer argues. No one can attest to its safety or effectiveness, yet some people have found it beneficial.

Medical Treatment

In the opinion of Darren Ripley, a counselor with the Augusta-based Alliance for Addiction and Mental Health Services. He claims that many have reported that it has helped them with pain and anxiety.

According to the agency, according to FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, MD, people who utilize medication-assisted therapy (MAT) for opioid addiction reduce their risk of mortality from all causes by half.
